Git Training

A half-day, hands-on Git training that brought the whole NBER team up to speed on version control.

We designed and delivered a team-wide, half-day training program on Git for NBER's staff, establishing a shared foundation in version control across both technical and non-technical roles. The session paired a structured walkthrough of core concepts with hands-on, in-person exercises, so participants applied each idea immediately rather than leaving with only abstract knowledge.

Through a series of guided exercises, the team worked through the full Git workflow — cloning repositories, creating and switching branches, staging and committing changes, resolving conflicts, and collaborating through pull requests. The exercises were built to mirror real-world scenarios, giving participants direct experience with the collaboration patterns they would encounter in their day-to-day work.

By the end of the session, the team had a working command of Git along with a set of written reference materials to return to as they put it into practice. The training laid the groundwork for a more collaborative and traceable development process across the organization.

“Jantcu hit just the right spot for this crew that will help us get started on our enterprise development workflow restructuring.”
