The Guild for Human Services needed to upgrade their Drupal core major version in order to stay up-to-date on the latest security patches and take advantage of new features offered by Drupal 10. Jantcu took a multistep approach to upgrade The Guild's modules and themes to prepare the environment, and then first upgraded the core system from version 8 to 9, removed deprecated code, and finally upgraded from version 9 to 10 to put them on the latest stable platform.
Our team moved contributed code into core when possible to lessen the maintenance footprint of the project, and took on development for a variety of custom modules for features where no release candidate was available given the newer architecture.
We upgraded the rich text editing experience from CKEditor 4 to CKEditor 5 to improve the editorial workflow for The Guild staff and we implemented a deployment workflow using Lando and Pantheon to ensure code is tested for quality assurance before being pushed live and backups are readily available to recover from in case there are ever issues.
